Class Descriptions:

  • Boot Camp: Kick off your week with a one-two punch of strength training and cardio intervals. Dumbbells, Steps and more will improve your cardiovascular fitness, strength, energy, and quickness.
  • Chair Strength: Designed to improve strength and muscle tone using a chair along with light weights, bands and tubing.
  • Chair Yoga: Chair yoga adapts yoga poses through creative use of a chair. Poses are done seated on the chair or the chair is used for support during standing and balance poses.
  • Fitness Boxing: Get a great full body workout with a winning combination of boxing, strength, conditioning and core exercises.
  • Forever Fit: A total body workout using light dumbbells and tubing to improve strength, balance, and stamina. Work will be adjusted and appropriate for the level of each participant.
  • Mat Works: A fusion of Yoga and Pilates designed to strengthen your core, relieve stress and improve your range of motion.
  • Power Pump: Challenge all your major muscle groups by using the best weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls.
  • Spinning: You set the resistance, your instructor sets the pace. Tap into the motivation of the group or just sit back and pedal at your own pace.
  • Spin Special: Get your heart pumping with a 45 minute ride, the hop off the bike for some targeted toning and strength for your core and upper body. 
  • Yoga Flow A vinyasa style connecting postures with breath in a continuous, challenging and creative flow combining strength and flexibility.
  • Yoga Stretch: Starts with a gentle flow to create warmth, moving into deep stretches to relieve muscle tension and create balance in the body

Jan Schmidt

1. Our bodies have amazing abilities to get stronger, to heal, to perform incredible feats. Our bodies and our minds need appropriate physical movement and good quality fuel to be at their best.

2. Aging well is within reach, yet our bodies have different needs as we age.

Cody Gillenwater

Experience and Education:

  • BS in Kinesiology-Exercise Science
  • MS in Kinesiology- Biomechanics and Business

Cody has grown up in the health and fitness world, starting wrestling at the age of 4. He competed through high school and college where he was a national qualifier for University of Central Missouri. He coached at the college level for two years, followed by five years at Rockhurst High School. He is the current Head Wrestling Coach at St. Michael the Archangel High School. In addition to his coaching duties, he devotes his time to helping others meet their fitness and wellness goals through personal training and teaching boxing fitness classes. 

Fitness Philosophy

I strive to make everyday a learning experience. The techniques taught in my programming should be utilized in all aspects of life. The dedication, determination, strength and perseverance that I bring to each session, I expect to see in each of my clients. I hope that with the proper training, each individual can take those skills into their future and be the best version of themselves.

Janie Harris

Experience & Education:

ACE Group Exercise Instructor since 1988. Janie has worked in Wellness & Health Promotion for the past 18 years and is currently employed by St. Luke’s as an Exercise Specialist in Cardiac Rehab


Fitness Philosophy:

Anyone can get fit if you find something you love to do, regardless of age or personal challenges.

Kylle Clemons

Experience & Education:

•American Council on Exercise (ACE) Personal Trainer/Group Fitness Instructor

•PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise).

Originally from Arizona, I started teaching aqua-aerobics while in high school, adding other class formats in college. From there I’ve worked in wellness at resorts and retirement communities, incorporating exercise, fitness and mindful movement into a variety of classes, programs and workshops. I left full time work in 2006 to raise my three boys while teaching classes at Blue Bicycle for over 6 years. This is a truly special place with wonderful people!


Fitness Philosophy: Movement can be medicine, helping people overcome physical and mental hurdles, improving their quality of life. What a privilege it is to witness someone taking charge of their life and going from: “I can’t imagine ever doing ______” into “I’m so proud of myself because now I can_______!”

Lisa Taranto Butler

Experience & Education: American Council on Exercise (ACE) triple certified as a Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor and Lifestyle Coach, with a specialty certification in Fitness Nutrition. Lisa has worked in the fitness industry for 16 years and is the owner of Fit Chix KC, a health and fitness business in South Kansas City. With a BS in Broadcast Journalism, she shares her wellness expertise as a freelance writer and public speaker. Her work has been published nationally and she is a regular contributor to local magazines including Her Life, Good Health KC, Kansas City Fitness, Prime, The Best Times and more.


Fitness Philosophy: Lisa trains, teaches and inspires everyday people to live a lean lifestyle. She firmly believes that every "body" is different and customizes her programs to each individual.

Micheal Taylor

Experience & Educations:

  • BS in Human Service Agency Management
  • BS in Recreation Administration
  • MA in Management
  • Certifications in Zumba, Stages Flight, Turbo Kick & RIPPED
  • 10 years of participation and teaching in fitness classes

Fitness Philosophy: I love legs! I have played basketball all my life and one key point that coaches over the years would always come back to is “once your legs go your mind goes.” In my classes I like to focus on the legs because they are the biggest muscle group on our bodies and if we work to maintain them then we will never lose our mental focus capabilities.
